<HTML>Dear Marc

the description for the photo of U 97 in Mr Koop\'s book is completely wrong. While U 97 was sunk on 16 June 1943 in deep water with no subsequent salvage efforts from any party the photograph actually shows U 97 after having grounded just off Salamis on 4 December 1941. Of course the persons shown on the picture belong to the German navy. U 97 was finally freed on 8 December 1941 and returned to Salamis. No structural damage resulted from the incident. The boat finally sailed on its 6th patrol on 23 December 1941.

Much to my regret I have to say that Mr Koop\'s book is offering an astonishing number of mistakes and that like. Here are just a few of them as an example:

Please compare pictures on page 44 lower page and 52 upper part, page 81 middle and 118 below, page 89 above and 117 below, or finally page 56 above and 135 above. All pairs of pictures show the same picture although the author tends to believe they are different!

U-boat identifications for many of the pictures displayed in the book seem to be attributed quite randomly considering the number of mistakes. I doubt the book is worth its price.
