Shame upon me ...

The story of U2502 and U874 and their passage in Birkenhead is documented in an excellent article by D.Waller on uboat.net - articles - "The U-Boats that Surrendered - U-Boats in the Royal Navy post-May 1945".

His other - obviously - well researched articles on uboat.net also most definitely merit a read.
