crush depth - an interesting hypothetical

Consider this hypothetical: Suppose steel canisters (130mm long with 5mm thick walls) were stored in the keel of a Type IX D/2 U-boat. Now suppose those canisters were filled with crushed stone (replacing the normal lead ballast to preserve buoyancy and stability) and the U-boat dove to its maximum depth. Would the pressure crush the canisters?
