Bow door mechanism

HI
Does anyone have any information on mechanism for how bow doors on Type VIIc were operated?

Also looking at photos of type IXc (U-505) the bow doors appear to be capable of sliding forward as they open inwards?

This is a different mechanism on type IXc?
