The confusion about the Type II reloads has been discussed on the forums here at uboat.net before. See the thread at:

It was intended to carry 3 reloads in the Type IIs but this proved impractical and only 2 were ever carried.

Also only the G7a was carried in the external containers. They did however have their warheads but not their pistols. I examined one of the containers on U-352 before the navy pulled the torpedo and destroyed it and it definitely had its warhead but didn’t have its pistol. When I looked in the hole in the warhead for the pistol there was a fish staring back at me. Additionally there are photos of spares being loaded into the external containers with their warheads.
