I've since come across this photo myself in a Time publication edited by Tim Mulligan. It certainly looks to be part of the Fahrt-Gerat or part of a prototype of it. I have a couple of descriptions of the device that mention a full scale conning tower that was able to be turned, as well as weather conditions and visibilty that could be varied. I'm also exploring the possibility that the device was dismantled and either copied or reassembled for use in the post-war Russian submarine service.

If anyone has any further information or can suggest where any archival records or schematics may be held, it would be greatly appreciated.
