I'm trying to determine how much steel is in a type VIIC U-boat as we prepare to search for U-656 again in July. I apologize if this is a repeat topic, but I didn't turn up the answer by searching the site.

I came across a manual that appears to have the information I need except not all of the numbers made it through the translation. If I knew what percentage of the 769 tons was pressure hull, that would give me a lower bounds to how much steel we need to be able to detect, and that will determine the spacing between flight lines for the aerial magnetic survey we are raising money for.
