Royal Marine Bandsman W (Bill) Evans) RMBX1509
My uncle George Lloyd was on the HMS Trinidad when she was torpedoed, and he was the last man out of the TS where 17 men died. I have recently found some letters to George from another Bandie, Bill Evans RMBX1509. They were written from various places, Scarborough and Nuneaton, and various times - one a few weeks after the ship was sunk, and also a few years later in 1945. Bill Evans asks if George has come out of his coma, and he mentions some other musicians: Becket, and Sam, and the Heybrook Barracks band. If any of the Evans family would like copies of the letters please contact me through www.georgelloyd.com and I will send them. I also have photographs of the Trinidad band at Heybrook Barracks while the ship was being fitted out. William Lloyd. (PS More about George Lloyd at www.georgelloyd.com)
