<HTML>HMS Wren ( a W class destroyer launched on 11/11/1919) was providing AA cover for minesweepers engaged in routine sweeping operations when the force was attacked by German aircraft. The minesweeper Montrose was damaged and towed back in Harwich. Wren became the main target for the attack and was sunk off Aldeburgh, 52° 10' N, 02 ° 06' E.

Mason's 'Battle of Britain' indicates that the German aircraft were He111 and that this action was not linked to the main battled of the day, the raids on Dover port and on the convoy 'Bacon', but rather to routine antishipping Luftwaffe operations on UK coasts.</HTML>
