<HTML>I have written a book that is in the editing process regarding the truth of what happened when the U-85 was sunk. I base my story on research, but until it is set in print, I will continue to try to tie up loose ends.

It is my conclusion Captain Howe ordered eleven depth charges to be dropped in the water where about forty German sailors were observed floundering and screaming for mercy by members of the Roper's crew. There were no survivors from the U-85. Twenty-nine bodies were pulled from the water and are buried in the Hampton National Cemetery.

If anyone has first hand knowledge you would like to share with me, I would appreciate your reply.</HTML>
