My father went to Boston to pick up HMS Byard and stayed with her all the war.
Bob Lancaster was a CPO in the engine room. I have a love letter written from a lady in Boston pleading for him to come back when he leaves the navy ,the letter was dated January 1946, he married my mother in August 1946!
