Hello, Kathi:

I hope you check back to this site. I just learned today from my father [who is 86 years young] that he was stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland and for 6-9 months was stationed on the YMS-22. He later transferred off that ship to work in the Quartermasters Corp in Argentia. He remembers that the two sister ships to the YMS-22 were sent to England for the Normandy invasion and that both were lost. I found in my research that YMS-21 & 24 were lost in France in 1944 but it doesn't say they were stationed in Argentia.

Dad met my mother at the USO in St. Johns in 1945. I have a few photos he gave me but I believe they are after he transferred to the Quartermasters Corps. I have not been able to find a photo of YMS-22 as yet but will keep looking. My dad also entered the Navy at the age of 17. Born 1.4.25 in Buffalo, NY.
