H Lenton in his book "British & Empire Warships of WW2" states that yachts were taken into service in large numbers; he did not list them all, but still has eight pages of yachts listed, with about 200 vessels.

The larger steam yachts were used for patrols & minesweeping & examination/boarding duties the smaller for a wide variety of lesser tasks.
