RN Motor Minesweeper

I am trying to trace any information on my uncle's (leading seaman John Francis Bewley) wartime naval service and in particular a Motor Minesweeper that he served aboard.

When I was a lad he told me that he had been aboard this vessel and it had been bombed in a canal and sunk and for this he had been awarded thirteen days survival leave. I have a model (sadly in disrepair) of this ship, made in some white wood about twelve inches long, that he told me was made by a blind Dutchman. I also have what appears to be wartime book (the cover is blue paper, not a hard back) with photographs of all the fleet at that time. It includes Motor Minesweeper 206 which looks the same as my model.

These are all the clues I have so if anyone can help me to unravel this mystery I would be very grateful.

Regards, James
