The CROWN of LEON was launched as the YANARIVA (Official No.104567), 3,391-tons, completed as Yard No.391 in Sept 1894 by Barclay, Curle & Co., Ltd., Glasgow and launched for Yanariva SS. Co., Ltd. (Caw, Prentice, Clapperton & Co., managers), Glasgow.
Dimensions of 330.0 x 43.1, powered by a 3 cyl trilpe expansion steam engine that gave 8-knots.
1901 owned by Prentice, Service & Henderson, Glasgow
1903 –owned by Crown SS. Co., Ltd. (Prentice, Service & Henderson), Glasgow
1911 renamed CROWN OF LEON by same owners
Torpedoed by U 63 on 7 May 1917, in the Gulf of Genoa, while voyaging from Cardiff to Civitavecchia, with coal; she was beached near Albegna, but then again torpedoed by U 32 on 16 May, subsequently refloated, sold and repaired.
In 1918 renamed LUCANIA by new owners Lucania Soc. Italiana di Nav. (Z. Oberti), Naples IT 170
1923 renamed DESI by Reed. Stange & Dreyer G.m.b.H., Stettin, Germany
1927 owners were A.G. für Handel & Verkehr, Emden [Johs. Fritzen]
1929 renamed EMSHÖRN by same owners
Broken up at Emden in 1933 by Nordseewerke (sold 2.33)
