ID of a sinking ship

Hello,
Those 2 pictures were taken during W.W. 1, by a photograph on board of the U-boot which sunk the cargo. (See part of the starboard side of the sub, pic. 2, corner left under). Such as many others of this kind, those pictures were used as « propaganda material » by the German navy.
The white logo « AB » on the picture is the one of a collector who retrieved the German pictures after the war.
Question : To clarify pictures of my book in progress, could somebody ID this allied (or neutral) ship ? Her funnel shows a white strip with a Malta Cross on it).
