Secret operations at the West Coast of Ireland

I came across the case of Joseph Dowling, who landed in a small rubber dingy off a German U-Boat in the early hours of Friday, April 12th, 1918, off the coast of Doolin, Co. Clare and landed on the beach at Crab Island, half a mile off the mainland.

Anyone know the submarine involved in this operation?

Have there been other operations of this kind carried out in World War I (besides the well known landing of Sir Roger Casement on Banna Beach, Co. Kerry in 1916)?
