Could someone help identify U-Boat in this newspaper article: "On June 24 1917, the Celia sailed from Montreal for France w/ supplies..... when the Celia was 600 km (400 miles) from coast of France.. uboat spotted on surface...uboat damaged by cannon fire & unable to dive ...
the submarine reeled to port and plunged down by the head, fifty ft.. of her stern standing straight up. She sank almost immediately leaving wreckage and oil on the surface. An ancester of mine - Capt D.M Taggart was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for this action. Can't seem to find anything in your data base with corresponding dates. Thanks Wayne
