there is one major problem with U-14 sinking Antonio Sciesa: the ship was travelling between Napoli and Torre Annunziata, both are in the Gulf of Napoli and nowhere near the Ionian sea.
The MMI archives are not very specific on the location of the Misurata sinking, but the general location is given as "Central Mediterranean". She had been requisitioned for duties as scort ship, and given her age (built 1888) I seriously doubt she would be escorting anything in the open Atlantic.
I have not yet received my copies of Bendert's books (both are on order) and I wonder if occasionally an error creeps in, after all, "errare humanum est- perseverare est diabolicus"
