Hi Michael
I still see a problem with U56. What about the crew from the norwegian steamer "Ivanhoe". After "Ivanhoe" was sunk U56 took the norwegian crew with them onboard because their lifeboats was damaged.
The 2/11 they where still onboard U56 when it was attacked on the surface 1230 by 4 warships. One of them fired 10 grenades, of which 3 hit U56. The german crew first thought it was norwegian ships and was ready to signal them with flags. One of the grenades hit the radio antenna and another had damaged a tank at the stern.
U56 made a quickdive to 50 meters and sailed away from shore for 2 hours and 30 minutes submerged. When they surfaced there where no trace of the enemies in the area. They continued on the surface to the Tanafiord where they arrived at 0745 the 3/11 and landed the norwegian crew at the shor at Lodsvik.
Regards
Dänemark
