I have seen photos of U-35's famous patrol in the Med, however, I was wondering how common the practice of U-boat crews photographing survivors in the lifeboats actually was? Was it a common thing or did it only happen rarely when one of the U-boat crew happened to have a camera, or, as in the case of U-35, when there was an "Official Photographer" on board? If it was a common practice, do the photo's still exist and if so where? Probably, it would have been confined to the earlier part of the War, before unrestricted u-boat warfare or, as with U-35,the Med.
