Freddy,
I have several possible wreck positions for U 40.
Grant: 57°00'N 01°50'W
Whittaker: poss. 56°34'N 00°58'W or 57°08'N 01°50'W
Spindler: poss. 56°43'N 01°05'W
Gröner: 56°35'N 01°02'W.
Cdr., WO and Boatswain survived the sinking.
It would be of great interest which position is written in the war diary of H.M.S. C 24.
