It is in fact a very, very wide area.
According to the news at the time (and I do mean news, and not official reports), NRP Roberto Ivens was sunk 12 miles South of Cascais, and 8 miles south-west of the light-house Bugio, light-house which is rigth in the midle of the entrance of the river Tejo, in Lisbon.

The depth there is hundreds of meters, I am not sure what may have been done there.
I would be grateful for any information concerning mine-laying activities near Lisbon.
