Passenger steamer: 197
Tanker: 145
Troopship: 27
Armed merchant cruiser/armed boarding steamer/escort ship: 37
Hospital ship: 17

(Steam) Trawler: 281
Navy trawler: 184
(Steam) Drifter: 39
Navy drifter: 36

Motor powered:
Motor vessel: 17
Motor fishing vessel: 30

Sail powered:
Sailing vessel: 1,709
Sailing vessels fitted with an auxiliary motor: 42
Various sorts of sail fishing vessel: 310

Fishing vessels, propulsion not specified: 220 (some were steam trawlers, others sail-powered).


Note these would include ships sunk, damaged, or taken as a prize.

Would agree that the war hastened the end of the era of sail, though sail was clearly on its way out anyways.
