Hello Chris,
Follow Cdr. Max Valentiner's French specialist Y. Dufeil (WWW.www.histomar.net),on September 15, 1917, M.V.left U-38, and returned to Kiel to take command of the new U-157. With her he undertook the longest (and last) cruise of the war, from November 27, 1917 to April 15, 1918 (139 days) and sank 150 ships.
Then he returned to the U-boat school to teach new submariners his techniques. His experience and advice were taken into account in the construction of the new boat U-143, which was faster and had a much improved dive time, but was never finished.
