Selim,

I handle much of the WWI material for the site, work with divers to identify submarine wrecks and am working on a book on WWI U-boat losses. I’m also in contact with top experts on WWII U-boat and Allied submarine losses.

Is any information available on the length of the wreck, whether any guns were fitted, the number of torpedo tubes bow and stern, and the number of rudders?

There's only one WWI possibility: UB 69, supposedly sunk by the sloop Cyclamen using explosive anti-submarine sweeps (paravenes) on January 8, 1918 at 37°30’N, 10°38’E. I have the file on the inquest into the attack; the attribution is questionable.

On the WWII side, the British submarine Usk is an obvious possibility. There may be others. I’ll look more.

Best wishes,
Michael
