I have come across a POW letter written from Boyardville camp from a Ltn. Wilhelm Meyer, dated Dec 1 , 1917.

Research states he was a U-boat commander of UB 77 from 2 Oct 1917 - 14 Jun 1918, and that he was responsible for sinking of the HMS Tuscania on Feb. 5th 1918 . How is this possible if he was a POW on Boyardville.

Surely they would not have released him and no mention of any escape from him. Is it possible there were 2 different Ltn. Wilhelm Meyer's during WW1. Just seems fitting it would be him since Boyardville held Uboat captains. Any thoughts?

Have an image of the letter but can't see how to upload anywhere.
