Thank you very much for this good advice. The U.S. Navy's Naval History and Heritage Command offers the same advice on their webpage, though there is no mention of NARA digitizing the ship's logs. I may eventually contact NARA but thought it worth posting to various on-line boards to see if by chance someone had access to this same information. Thanks again!
