This officer is credited with being the last u-boat commander to win the Knights Cross.U-boat index states award on 8/5/45. other books 11/5/45. Presumably in the chaos of final days, award details delayed? Have spoke to Axel, but could anyone offer further enlightenment on this subject.Was this award officially sanctioned?
