Being an ex postman of 16 yrs service, i found the photo on page 196 0f Otto Giese's book, Shooting the War,highly interesting in todays Royal Mail's performance.It shows a mail pendant beneath victory pennants, as U-181 approaches Penang.What a welcome sight that must of been to the crews faraway from home.Yet again a first class delivery in dangerous circumstances,while Royal Mail cant get anything right, so it seems, forgive the angst.
