Hello!
I'm working for a German film production company an we are currently working on a documentary about the german submarine U 977.
U-Boat 977, captained by commander Heinz Schaeffer, chose not to surrender at the end of World War II. Instead the crew took the submarine to Argentina. n Aug. 17, 1945 the crew of U-977 reached Mar del Plata Harbor in Argentina, and were subsequently sent to the United States to be held in POW camps. U.S. authorities feared that Hitler had fled using the submarine, and was hiding somewhere in South America.
During our research we discovered english surveillance protocols monitoring U977's radio communication with several posts. Unfortunately we are not experienced in reading such protocols and are unable to identify several abbreviations. E. g. what means “From: O.C. To: U977†excactly, who ist “O. C. "Oberkommando", means headquaters? We are looking for an expert, who can help us. MAybe you can give me a hint.
When Catian Schaeffer and his crew arrived in Argentinia in Mid-Agust 1945, they where accused of hiding Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun in their boat and bringing them to South America. We are interested in finding out if Schaeffer made himself suspicious with several unusual radio calls (e. g. talking with headquaters about unimportant topics, interpreted by the alliues as coded messages about Hitlers whereabaouts.
I would be thankful for any kind of help.
