Medical considerations

I'm looking for any literature (in English) dealing with medical considerations as to the sorts of things seamen/aircrew adrift at sea in either the Atlantic/North Sea or Mediterannean faced and what was known about these conditions 1935 - 1941.

A very odd topic, I know, but any help would be appreciated
