handheld weapons on ww2 uboats

hi!

i have a question about the routine in carrying handheld weapons on ww2 uboats. what type of weapons were carried on board and who was entitled to carry them?

only the commander with one p08 or p38 or were there some k98 or mp40 onboard for lets say prize actions againts merchantmans?

do you know something about this? ( what type, how many eg.)
