U-1024 did only 1 patrol she sank 1 ship (7176 grt)
and damaged 1 ship. She sunk on 13/4/45 SSW of the Isle of Man
(53*39' N 15*03'W)
U-1024 's commander KL Hans Joachim Gutteck, was wounded
during an enemy warship gun attack on his U-boat and that he then
shot himself dead. The boat was later boarded by a party from
HMS Loch More and valuable documents were found. U-1024 was
taken in tow by Loch More but she foundered in the morning of
the 13th after the towline parted in thick fog.? 9 men, including the
Captain of U-1024 were lost and another 37 men were picked up.
