A while back I posted a story about the father of a friend of mine who was aboard a destroyer in WW11. The destroyer depth charged a U-boat, causing it to surface and surrended. He was one of several men assigned to escort the prisoners from the sub to the ship. While onboard the U-boat he noticed a brass plaque rivited to the conning tower and pried it off with a hammer and screwdriver as a souvenir.
I was over at my friends home last night a examined the plaque he inherited from his dad. It is triangular in shape, with rivet holes in each corner. the bottom is 3.5", the two sides are 3" each. The top portion has an embossed
picture of an anchor with these letters, in this order..

H. A.
P.
A. G.

At the bottom is written.. BUCH-No. 2570

After all personal were removed from the U-boat, it was sunk by explosives.
My friend has no idea what the name of the destroyer was or what area of operation it was working out of when this incident ocurred.
He is very interested in finding out the name of the U-Boat and asked me if I would help. I now am asking any of you if you know if there is any way of tracing the sub's name using the information on the plaque.
Thanks for any help you might offer.
Mike
