U-77 Survivor Question

I recently purchased a photograph from historicalmedia which has the Wilhelm Gustloff and I believe the Hansa in Gotenhafen in their wartime grey. The owner noted this picture belonged to one of the 9 survivors of the U-77 sinking in 1943. I am wondering if the survivors were brought into Gotenhafen and the sailor himself could have taken this, or if he took it at a later point. Thanks
