I have a watercolour with the following caption: 'The surrender of U-1023 to HMS Mounsey (Lieutenant Commander G.C. Julian) as seen by Sub-Lieutenant Stock (Boats Officer) at 2300 on 10th. May 1945 off Lands End.'
I understand that U-1023 was under the command of Kapitanleutnant Heinrich-Andreas Schroeteler, and that he died in January 2000. My father, Geoffrey Julian, who was Captain of HMS Mounsey at the time, died in 1970. I wonder whether any of your Members know what happened to Sub-Lieutenant Stock, who painted this picture almost sixty years ago.
