Loss of U 90

According to this site, as well as the majority of available literature on the subject, U 90 was sunk 24/7/42 by RCN destroyer St. Croix.
However, the KTB der U-bootwaffe (as transcribed in [uboatarchive.net]) has an entry as follows:
"U 90, Oldeorp, first trip, no more reports after attacking convoy east of Newfoundland Bank on 28.7.42."
If the boat made contact with base on the 28th, she could not have been sunk 4 day earlier. Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated,
Regards,
Brian
