Late War Sailings

I have always been impressed by Germany being able to support it's armed forces, even while being faced with shortages. How was the Kriegsmarine able to provision and fuel u-boats in the late stages of the war? I'm impressed that they were able to Operate out of Norwegian ports so late in the war, given fuel requirements.
