Trying to track info on a commander

My uncle, John Rees from Liverpool UK, was on board the Minesweeper 'Aries' based in Trieste, Italy in 1943. The commander was possibly Roger Stannard Cameron. His surname is certain but first names are not. My uncle is asking me if I could find any information about him. My uncle is in his 80's now probably around 83 ish so the commander would no doubt be a bit older than that now. He would most likely have passed away now but if he has any family here in NZ it would be good to know.
