This boat is generally listed as bombed by RAF some time in January 1945 at Wilhelmshaven, raised by March 30th, but not repaired, then scuttled on May 5th still at Wilhelmshaven. However, having just been reading through Peter Sharpe's book U-Boat Fact File, he as her listed, bombed and damaged at Hamburg on 17th January by the 8th USAAF, then again by the 8th, bombed and sunk on March 30th, where after she was raised, only to be scuttled at Kupfermuhlen Bay on May 4-5th 1945. So on checking the 'Bomber Command War Diaries' I found the only RAF mission against U-boats was on January 12th at Bergen, where U 775 and U 864 were slightly damaged. Then checking the 'Mighty Eighth War Diary', there were in fact two raids both on Hamburg, the first on the 16th-17th of January, where the main target was oil refineries, but also on Hamburg, where the dock area may have been hit. But the second attack was on March 30th, the main target being the U-boat Yards, port area and oil dumps, a small attack was also launched on the U-boat yards at Bremen. Which suggests U382 was not bombed at Wilhelmshaven, but at Hamburg,as any one have definate data on the fate of this boat? john
