1st Minesweeper Flotilla

Hello again,
on January 1940 the 1st Minesweeper-Flotilla sank 3 british subs.
HMS UNDINE, HMS SEAHORDSE, HMS STARFISH.
Now my question about the Flotilla.
Did they work as a sub-hunter-group for a short time ?
Or sailed they as a security group in a convoy ?
