I am not entirely sure that this forum is the correct place for this topic, but since there is no dedicated listing for inter-war events, here goes:-

Final closure on the fate of HM submarine POSEIDON appears to have emerged recently.

POSEIDON, one of six Parthian-class Vickers subs was built in 1929 for the Royal Navy's China station, sank on 9 June 1931 during exercises off the northeast coast of China following collision with a steamship. Thirty crew members scrambled to safety; twenty-one died. Captain Bernard Galpin, captain of the submarine, was court martialled.

Apparently the wreck was raised secretly by the Chinese. perhaps as recently as the 1970s, in order to develop salvage techniques and to help with new communist Chinese submersible design. The hulk was seen in July 1972 surfaced at a salvage wharf in Yantai harbour on the island of Chefoo (Zhifu). Only three years ago did Chinese authorities admit to the recovery of the vessel.

A film documentary, "The Real Poseidon Adventure; China's Secret Salvage of Britain's Lost Submarine" is in preparation, as is a forthcoming book to be published by Steven Schwankert/Hong Kong University Press.
