Did a Uboat sink a ship in Hudson Bay?

Hi,
I am new to Uboats. A lifelong WW2 buff but focused on land campaigns, but want to expand my knowledge of this important aspect of the war.
I have a friend who says her Grandfather knew of a merchant ship sunk by a Uboat in Hudson Bay. I am not sure of the year. Hudson Bay, not river.
Did Uboats operate in Hudson Bay? Is there any possibility that this story is true?
Thanks to anyone who might know. Sully
