As a ten week old survivor of the sinking of the Duchess of Atholl by U-178 in October 1942 I have been trying to find information regarding Hans Ibbeken. I have found photos on the net and also have his WWII records from various Google pages. What I would like to do is find out about his post war life. His family, his occupation after the war etc. I recently met Trevor Liney, the radio operator on the Ascension Islands who picked up the Duchess's distress call. I know that Hans passed away in 1971. Does anyone have any ideas where I can search on line to try and find out anything further about Hans? Thank you for your time.
