U-331 or U-431

In the U-boat archives, under interrogations of U-331's crew, there is a great deal of information on a convoy attack carried out by U-331 in which Eocene was sunk. Every source I've read has U-431 as being the U-boat which sank the Eocene. Any added information would be appreciated. Regards Steve.
