I have in my possession a small sextant with the makers mark of H . Haecke of Berlin
On the index arm it has the imperial German crown with an engraved M under which is engraved 443 in large numbers.
443 is also stamped into the storage box.
Interestingly, it appears to have an ivory scale marked from 0 – 100
I have been told that the sextant was surrendered by a U-Bot to the 1st Royal Navy Motor Launch at Harwich on 21 November 2018, although I do not have any documentation to back this up.
I would be grateful for any information on this navigational instrument. I am hopeful that the engrave number 443 may be able to associate it with a particular submarine.
Thanks in advance,
Rik
