Ships Bell

Hello,
I have received a brass bell that I believe is from a German boat from WW2. It has the following inscriptions:
Poseidon Magdel 4709
Militarschn

Please note, I may be incorrectly reading the letters as they are in a german script and are not very clear.

The only reference I can find online to 4709 are the U-Boats. Is it possible that this is from a u-boat? or can someone point me in the right direction to find out where the bell came from? It is a small bell about 7cm tall and 7cm in diameter.
