<HTML>I'm wondering if someone can help me clarify what Siegfried Ludden's fate was - he is reported to have died in a fire on the Daressalam in Jan 45 on U-Boat net, but Clay Blair's book Hitler's U-Boat War, Volume 2 p. 621, says that he was ambushed and killed while enroute to Berlin in a motor vehicle convoy. Also, I have a shield-shaped plaque, blue with a silver border, with a silver stripe running diagonally top left to bottom right, marked "Property of Siegreied Ludden, Commander U-188" in German on the back. Anyone if this was the emblem of U-188, or of something else/
