If a member of the Reichsmarine had served in the enlisted or NCO ranks prior to attending the Marine Academy and had achieved the rank of Stabsmechaniker prior to huis assignment to Crew 33 for training of that of an officer, what rank would he be required to wear, or would the "mustang" be issued just the uniform, insignia and title of just a Fähnrich with no consideration given to his previous service. I am confused, and later in the war would a mustang cadet be allowed to wear combat ribbons indicating achievements prior to attending the academy; ie war badges, EK2 or EK1 wound badges, Spanish Cross or the like. Thanks for looking and any info. would be most appreciated.
